Copa

YEAR COUNTRY BASE VERSION
1976 Spain Alpine

The "R5 COPA" is not a limited edition but the name under which the Alpine version was marketed in Spain.

Due to the tight laws on car imports that existed in Spain at that time, the FASA-Renault presented its version of a Spanish built/assembled R5 Alpine.
This version, being basically an R5 Alpine (albeit with a lower level of equipment), had an image of its own, in particular a characteristic yellow paint with the bonnet (hood) in matte black.
The first produced units were intended exclusively for racing, and mainly for the Spanish "Copa Nacional Renault", where they replaced the "old" R8 TS, "on duty" since 1969.
It was necessary to wait until the autumn of 1977 for this model to be marketed to the general public.

Special features:

Besides painting, this "R5 COPA" was basically the same "R5 Alpine" sold in other markets but with a more modest level of equipment than their French "brothers".

- Colors:

  • Initially sold only in Yellow with a matte black engine bonnet (hood), was later also sold in the colors White and Orange (but always with a matte black engine bonnet (hood).
