In 1978, profiting from the commercial success of the Renault 5 in the U.S.A., where this car was
sold under the name "Le Car", Renault launched in Europe a special limited edition (6,000 units)
bearing the same name, but with a high level of equipment and some slight differences, more in
accordance to the european's likes.
In 1979 Renault launched a promotional campaign in several countries entitled "Festival Renault 5", emphasising
some models, particularly the "Le Car" version.

- "Le Car" logo on the bonnet's (hood's) front and door's bottom.
- Numbered identification plate inserted on the dashboard.
- Specific "Le Car by Renault" badge on the tailgate.
- Bumpers in black color.
